Hong Shaoxuan -- Local Singer

Can anyone pls tell me if Hong Shaoxuan, one of the earlier Xinyao singers, has ever released an album of his own? Think he has one album together with Yan Liming. I've been looking high and low for the answer and even called some recording companies but no one can provide me with the answer. Heard that he could be performing in one of the Min ge can ting. You know which one? Pls enlighten! Thanks! -
Not sure about his albums. Even if he did release before, I think it is "extinct" liao. He sings once a month in Music Dreamer ( http://www.musicdreamer.com ). His slot this month will be on the 30 Aug, 1st slot of the evening. If not, you can always look out for the local concerts. He is usually invited to sing for most of them, eg. Xingpop, xinyao / oldies related concerts. -

Btw, I have a feeling that i know you, Garfield Ong..because i liked garfield a lot, so some of my penpals or net frens have this nick and it happens that one has the surname Ong...Do i know you??

Hmm...don't think so. I don't surf the net often (this is my first time joining a discussion network) and I don't have any penpal (I'm outgrown and busy to have penpal). Anyway, now still liu2 xing2 penpal meh? Nice knowing you two who are also fans of Hong Shaoxuan

Hajime, Dinnoe HSX is one of the singers in AI QING HAI MING GE CAN TING...Really wasted leh! I noe WeiBin and JunXin sing there lah..I went there once only, for Qi Qin's concert..

I've listened to the CDs , but some singers I neber hear b4 leh, like PingPang. Too bad don't have Jiang Hu's songs. Used to loved his singing and songs soooooo much. Then suddenly he bo liao!

Check it out. Actually it's not difficult to find old CDs in sg..I saw one before, it's actually a package with few CDs..cost about $50 plus...
If you wana get old CDs, can go to chinatown stores (there are two) or FeiYing..which is somewhere at Marina Square if i'm not wrong..I bought my Zheng Zhan Lun CD there..

You may want to go to a CD shop in Bugis Shaw which stocks a lot of jue ban old albums. Bought a couple of Fei Ying's (Eric Moo, Qiu Hai Zheng, Fang Wen Lin and Annie Yi) albums from there. I also like Jiang Hu very much, so was quite happy to see him in some of the local concerts. In fact, I prefer him to Eric Moo I also like Zheng Zhan Lun's songs..
S'pore actually has quite a few decent singers, just that given limited chances during that time, they were not able to make it big. Pity... -

In terms of vocal, Jiang Hu's definitely better than Eric Moo's, so soothing, though EM was my first choice idol at that time cos he can compose. Too bad I missed the recent Xinyao concerts that features ShuiCao, Yan Liming, etc and even EM's one-&-only concert!
Like Liang Wenfu too. His songs are all so meaningful and realistic. Plan to buy his compilation but no $$. Will be going to Music Dreamer to support HSX this Sat. Hope to see you guys there! -

The Bugis Shaw is the building opposite Suntec and near to Raffles Hotel. The CD shop is on the 2nd storey. Ya, that time still no CD yet, but I understand there are companies/individuals who convert old songs from master tape/cassettes into CDs. Maybe quality not that superb, but for old times sake...Erm, not sure if it's legal though...
Never into Eric Moo, except for Xie Hou
But I'm very into Liang Wenfu esp his songs and novels hehehe. I love his novels, very "poetic" and beautiful "wen2 fa3". I couldn't think of anyone in Singapore who even comes close. His songs are memorable as well, esp those sung by Hong Shao Xuan (my most fave!!!) & Xu Nan Sheng (my 2nd fave!). Jiang Hu was one hunk whom many girls swooned over hahaa...I do like a few of his songs, eg. "Lian Zhi Qi", "Rong Xu Wo Xiang Xing Wo", "Bian Yuan Shao Nian", "Ping Shui Xiang Feng"...
You can get some Liang Wen Fu compilations in some CD shops which sell older CDs (Outram has a few). He has a couple going for <$20 and are really worth the $$$. -

I won't be going to Ai Qing Hai ba.though this is quite a rare opportunity..I have to attend a seminar in the morning and dunno what time it will end...4pm tune in to JieQi's programme is already a hobby..Think I won't want to get out of home...

Which shop are you refering to? The Bugis or Outram one? Bcoz I don't remember any "bai mei ying wang" at all! The Bugis one was run by this guy who created a small ripple recently when he exhibited Leslie Cheung's costume at a local tribute and was reported in the HK media that he was trying to cash in on Leslie's death and sell the costume at a high price, something which he had denied vehemently. Anyway I spoke to him a few times before and he seemed to be a music lover who knows quite a bit on even the more remote singers/songs.
Don't think I can go Aegeam on 30th too, though I would love to! Not been there for a long time, but I like that place very much. The last few times I went was to support HSX of course! That was after Dreamz FM no longer performed there. Oh yes, and Lilian too hehehee... really feel like reliving the memories soon...

Who is wisefool? Tot only 3 of us in this topic all the while? Me went Ai Qin Hai last night. Had a wonderful time there, except the music was a bit too loud and I'm sitting very near the stage (does it matter?). Though was late and missed a few songs by HSX, but at least he sang one of my fav "Cong Ni Hui Mou Na Tian Kai Shi". Was so touched by his singing that I teared. I enjoyed the 1st slot as he's the only one singing. The accompanist (?) was very funny too, making it not too boring just listening to the songs. 1st time hear Cai Lilian sing (except on TV). Wow! So that explained why there were so many cars parked along the road side last night! Tot the "2 moons" event already over on 27 Aug?! Why yesterday got so many events which I like huh?!

The amplifiers and synthesizers all by the stage so it will be quite loud and distracting. The "2 moons" should last some while, but on 27 Aug Mars is supposed to be closest to Earth, hence the hype. I think over last weekend can still view them, that's why there's a sizeable crowd in places like Science Centre.
Woo, Jiang Hu I also heard his album is out, but now quite broke leh...nevermind, hope can get it next week When will it be HSX's turn? Maybe can compile his songs along with Yan Li Ming's so can also include his duets with her hehehee But think it's unlikely ba...

Went to Chinatown market to search for Jiang HuÂ’s album but cannot find . All those stall owners looked so old (sorry to say that!) I doubt they know who Jiang Hu is. Hajime, is the album consists of Jiang HuÂ’s songs only or itÂ’s a compilation of many singers? I tried looking for Gun Shi recording also cannot find. But I tot Jiang Hu used to be under Polygram?
Didn’t have a chance (or rather, I dare not) to ask HSX if he ever has an album to his own, but I do have the album “Liu Xing Ge Qu” which features Yan Liming and HSX. There’s only one duet called “Jin Ye Shi Ni”. It’s the 6-CD compilation by Ocean Butterflies, but sound quality not so good. Think it’s recorded directly from cassette.
I like David TaoÂ’s music too, but never own any of his. Not working, so no $$$ to spare. Why the company like that make money one?! So unethical.

If you think Ai Qing Hai is loud, then MuChuan would be worse. The speakers are hooked up everywhere since the space is rather spread out so the sound can hit you from all directions. There are also TV screens showing the on-goings on the stage, as there are some seats which are rather far out from the stage so some people may not be able to see the stage. So can imagine the atmosphere is rather disengaging as compared to Ai Qing Hai. When it started more than a decade ago, it was only half the size so the ambience was so much cosier. What a pity...
I also had only heard about the JiangHu compilation but had not seen it for myself yet. May go look for it next week or the week after so tell you after I do get it.
Hmm, "Ni De Dao Ying" is by YLM and...HSX or Cai Jun Xiong? Haha I am bad at this...I also had the same compilation as you mentioned. Not all songs inside are great (recalled the English song sung by 3 guys, omg), but they detailed the long way Xinyao had come through and progressed so it was interesting. I think Liang WenFu compilations will be better if you are into the more advanced era of Xinyao.
If you haven't owned any of David Tao's albums, then I guess you can get his compilation though I feel individually, each of his albums are generally well worth the money. -
For those who enjoy Cai Li Lian's singing, "LeeLian's Music Journey" will be coming up at the latter part of Sep at the Esplanade.
The event will feature Li Lian singing many good old Mandarin hits as well as Xinyao songs. Guest artiste is Joe Pang.

Hi Garfield! Sorry I made a few mistakes lah..So long never come in due to pc and server prob..I mistyped you as 'wisefool'..sorry..And I went to see mars lah! Aiyo my frens lor.....din tell me properly.....I can see mars every ngiht mah...go there and squeezed......siao leh...no sequence, so many people...we went there to chou4 re4 nao4 ba! My fren used her digicam to zoom in and recorded pics of mars lor....waiting for ehr to post online the pics..We left at about 11pm ba...reached home at about 12am bcos we went to KFC for a drink after that..
