  Hey eTan, i dont know about Cdo, but Ndu never set foot in Tekong at all throughout their BMT and CDC phase. Nope their BMT will not be conducted in Tekong, don't worry, the accomodations are great.
  Enlistees will have a more memorable PoP haha, trust me on that... you won't be getting the normal PoP because you only have your true POP after your CDC phase.. you get a memorable one after BMT too, but trust me.. the CDC one is worth the wait.

  Good day (or night!) Friends,
  
  Well, imma fresh grad right outta poly and i just happened to receive my enlistment letter a couple of weeks ago. It informed me to report at Pasir Ris camp and there was another peice indicating "Commando Training Institute" *in bold*. (PTP)
  
  I did attend the VA (thought i did pretty average tho).
  - imma wearing glasses (less than 100 each side)
  -PesB1
  -Failed napfa (STANDING BOARD JUMP ARGH)
  
  So my question(S) would be:
   -How did i even selected?(IQ TEST?leadership)
  -Anyone willling to shed some light on th PTP phase?:D
  -Is the training progressive?
  -Would there be any ideal ways i can prepare for it physicaly

  Quite delighted to get selected tho, just kinda worried bout the injury risks:).gonna do my best there

  The selection process up till now still a mystery, but for PTP, nothing much except PT every day and night.....

  haha go express interest, den go through Breath holding, jump tower and Divers fitness test.. hahaha interview and medical screening.

  The Commando PTP programme doesn't differ much from Tekong PTP. It's all the usual PT, basic foot drills, introduction to military life, etc. The training is definitely progressive, especially after the recent spate of training-related deaths. Commanders everywhere are scrambling to up their safety measures so they don't add to the body count and ruin their career.

  P.S. It would be greatly appreciated if you bring all the female relatives/friends you can muster on your enlistment day.

  woahhh thanks dude! thats what i was waiting to hear :D
  Btw since im in ptp, that makes me part of bravo company? haha so whats the diff between alpha and bravo?:D

  Alpha is the JC intake at the start of the year. Bravo is the poly intake in the middle of the year.

  I spent almost the whole night reading up on cdo recruitment from page 1 till the part where gen and lokey had a heated arguement in 2009 which i just skimmed through till the last few pages of this thread.

   

  I just wanna ask two questions:
  
  Height Requirement is 160cm and above? Yes or No?
  
  Do they take in Malays as CDOs?
  
  I am very interested to be in commando.

  there is no height requirement.. for a malay it's pretty hard to join the commandos. Every intake there would probably be only 1 or 2 malays. I don't know how they choose, It depends on how mindef measures their clearance level.

  Hey guys, I was kinda wondering what are the minimum requirements of being a commando? Cause i kinda am shortsighted with like 300+ degrees on both eyes, but no astigmatism/color blindness/ whatever. And in the forward bending test I am like 3 degrees positive (not really sure what that means but basically just know that its is somehow crooked). But other than these 2, i have no other medical conditions, no broken bones/medical history whatsoever. And my fitness is reasonably good. So anyone has any idea what are my odds of just getting selected for VA, ie do I even meet the minimum requirement? Oh and I also kinda failed the SYFC medical test, not sure why though...

  I'm still an pre-enlistee and have yet to receive my enlistment letter or any letter concerning VA. 

  It is an ambition of mine to join either the CDOs or NDUs. 

  I obtained NAPHA gold and am PES A. 

  However I was not born in Singapore. Does this affect my chances? Are the VA letter and the enlistment letter sent together? 

  I also do IB instead of A levels.

  hi, just wanna ask if the variation of receiving the letter of enlistment for cdo is within a wk or? cos i wanna enter cdo, and during the VA, my interviewer asked a few qns and said ' k, u're in'. but i saw most of my friends who went for VA received their enlistment letter 2days ago already, and mine's yet to come..., does that means i'm going to tekong?and no more cdo?

  You will receive notices from the Central Manpower Base (CMPB) at different times before enlistment.
  

  There are 2 important notices you'll receive from CMPB, these are listed below:

  1. Registration notice: you'll get this notice when you reach 17½ years old. It will inform you to do your NS registration.
  2. Enlistment notice: this notice will be sent to you about 2 months before the Date of Enlistment (DOE).

  2. I'm in JC. Friends' NS Enlistment in Feb 2013.
  Since the official website has not release any further updates, it's not finalise yet. So focus on GCE 'A' Level.

  3. If it is given out 2 months before enlistment, then what happen? Admin lapse by CMPB or Post Office? Call the NS hotline to seek direct and official answer?
  
  4. I called the NS hotline @ 1800-3676767 already. CSO said it will take 3 working days to get back to me. So should I just wait or keep calling everyday to pester and expedite process?

  Okay, the URL Enquiry on NS Enlistment Date stated Dec 2012 - May 2013, so it answered me vaguely. That's like the period for the whole JC boys... How?
  
  Keep calling the NS hotline @ 1800-3676767 everyday to pester and expedite process since the hotline is 24/7 and it's the only direct and official source?

  I called twice. I got the same reply.
  In the second call, the CSO replied, "We'll have to contact various departments to validate the information, should you want the most accurate answer, you should just wait till we call you back."

  So am I in or out of the selection for CDO BMT?

  By the way, the list of the selected ones for CDO BMT is finalised by HQ CDO already.
  I called HQ CDO to ask, but the clerk said HQ CDO can't reveal it citing confidentiality.
  The person told me to just wait for the NS enlistment notice patiently.
  They've already finalised the list and sent to CMPB already.
  Now, it's for CMPB to send the NS enlistment notice to us.
  
  So am I in or out of the chosen ones for CDO BMT?

  I called again for the 3rd time.
  The NS hotline CSO told me to wait patiently for the NS call-up by CMPB.
  
  So should I just wait patiently while focusing on my GCE 'A' Levels?
