My gf just bought a new laptop. In her home, she can connect to her wireless properly. Same for wireless@sg and the wireless at the workplace.
But when trying to connect to my house router, it just cannot connect properly. I traced the problem to the laptop not being able to get a IP address and other settings properly. The router did assign an IP as seen from the router logs.
However, the wireless works when I specify an IP address and the DNS server, ie, not get the settings automatically. If I do this everytime, it can connect. But it is rather troublesome.
Don't think is router problem cuz my laptop and my sis laptop can connect.
Don't think is Vista problem cuz Vista can connect other networks easily without problem.
So how ah? Really blur...
your isp?
How is your home network setup?
Modem --> Router --> Internet
OR
Router --> Internet
?

ISP Singtel, but definitely not ISP problem
Laptop->router->Internet
Just one router only should be easy.
Right click on the network icon near the clock and select Diagnose and Repair. That should give you an option to reset. Then reset it and see things go.
Also check the following:
Start > Run and type in services.msc
Check that DNS Client is turned on.

The Diagnose and Repair tried before. The DNS didn't try yet...
But funny thing is, if the laptop worked with other routers, I don't see why it doesn't work with mine, when both my laptop and my sis's laptop work.
Can't believe hers is so extra lor...

It's a newly bought laptop, so I don't think there's any problem also.
Argh... just so stupid... Not used to Vista
My Vista no problem leh...
So how? Is the DNS Client service turned on?
If it is, try the following:
Copy and paste the following in blue into Notepad:
