Global rise in football product sales
From the moment the 2010 FIFA World Cup starts, all sales of football related products will see a clear boost. The last World Cup in 2006 which took place in German territory, recorded the sales turnover of the clothes and football boots′ sector increase by 13% in comparison to 2005 in the five large European countries*, The Institute of Market Research, NPD group reports.

Total market sales turnover therefore increased to 1.7 billion Euros. An increase principally lead by the sales boost of English and German national football shirts which respectively brought in 200 million and 50 million Euros. Sales of France, Italy and Spain’s team shirts increased but more moderately.
According to the 2008 Global Sports Market Estimate from NPD group, the global football market was estimated at 8.4 billion Euros, of which 380 million derived from France, nearly 1.2 billion from Great Britain and 662 million from Germany.
