hi guys. just wondering if anyone been to mount faber's jewel box.. what are the restautants there and what's the budget? thank you! =)
The Altivo
I've been there on several occasions.
Say if you're going with a date - a good idea would be cable car ride from Harbour Front to Mount Faber - then walk a few steps right up to the place (Call in advance to make a reservation at the cushion seat if possible)
Price wise - it depends on whether you're planning to dine or just going for drinks. If you're dining and not having any wine, you'd be looking at around 50 - 80 per person, top it up with a few beer and cocktails to wash down the food... (I don't know bout you, but I'm quite a big drinker) Total bill can hit up to 200.
But if you're conventional-no-nonsense-not-too-many-drinks kinda person, then a safe estimate would be around $100.
P.S. Place is pretty inaccessible, you really don't want to be stucked at the top of the hill with no vehicle... So 1) Either have your own ride 2) Borrow your folks' ride 3) Be in time for the last cable car ride <-- Can't remember what time though

I'm a li'l too particular for my own good when it comes to dining
I'd say the food is just okay - you don't go there for the food anyway.. it's the ambience and all
Why don't you share with me your budget, objective (a date, etc) and preference?

Don't worry

hmm. gf bday dinner surprise.
so far.. because of the previous restaurant: Desire - i planned $250 for both of us.
but looks like if i might have extra $100 to play with on your recommendation.
i'm not really good at these planning stuff and posh eating - i'm a prata kinda guy, so recommendation would help alot. thanks! =D

Altivo's probably going to be a refreshing experience.
I don't know your girl's preferences - but I guess you could give Altivo a try. With the extra 100 on hand, you probably could get your babe a nicer gift or a bouquet
If you're feeling a li'l more generous... I'd strongly suggest a fine dining experience, coupled with say a chartered limo
....................
But at the end of the day... truth is... If it's fun, it's good

the last cable car ride is at 11pm. so i think it's all good.
problem is, my plan is to take the train from vivo to sentosa, then buy the 2 way cable car tickets, from sentosa to mt faber, then from mt faber to harbourfront centre. dunno if it works that way.

For the love of God, if it's a birthday surprise and you already planned to spend that much money. Throw in a couple of tens more for taxi.
Yes, it works the way. You can check out the cable car pricing on the website (google!), last I remember.. It was like 19 for a return tix
Have fun!
